FAQs
A Professional Engineer (PE) is a state-licensed engineer. A structural engineer is a PE who specializes in building structures. Some states also offer or require an additional SE license for certain structural work; in others, a PE practicing structural is the standard.
Safety, code compliance, and cost control. We verify load paths, size members and connections, and detail repairs or new work—reducing RFIs, change orders, and risk during construction and inspection.
Any time structure is affected: removing/adding walls, additions or second stories, new openings in masonry, heavy equipment or RTUs on a roof, balcony/stair repairs, foundation issues (cracks/settlement), change of use/occupancy, or whenever the permit office requests stamped drawings.
The engineer designs and stamps the structural solution; the contractor builds it and manages means, methods, sequencing, and site safety. We coordinate so what’s drawn can be built efficiently.
We evaluate existing joists/trusses, deck and diaphragm, then design reinforcements or transfer frames. We consider vibration, access, and snow drift/wind per current code.
Condition assessment: monitoring or immediate repairs (masonry stitching, slab/footing fixes) → documentation for bidding and schedule planning. We prioritize safety and clarity.
Yes—we can design the foundation before or after we receive reaction loads from the metal-building manufacturer (and we’ll verify/update final calcs once loads and the soil report are provided).
